We know installing solar is a big decision. Here is everything you need to know — before, during and after installation.

Before installation

What needs to be in place before we start?

Is my roof suitable for solar?
Most roofs are suitable if they are in good condition, get enough sunlight and face the right way — south is ideal, east and west still work well on Cyprus. Our team inspects the roof during the consultation and tells you before you commit.
Do I need planning permission?
Rooftop systems on existing buildings usually fall under a simplified procedure. We handle the application with the local authority and the EAC as part of the project fee — you do not deal with any of it.
What documents do you need from me?
Your latest EAC bill, proof of ownership or the owner's written consent, and your ID or company registration. That is enough for us to start planning.
Will solar work during power cuts?
A grid-tied system switches off during an outage — that is a safety requirement, so nobody works on a live line. With a battery and a backup box, your essential circuits keep running.
How do we size the right system?
We take the consumption from your EAC bill, divide it by the yield on Cyprus — around 1,600 kWh per kWp and year — and check what fits on your roof. You see the calculation, not just the result.
What financing options are available?
Payment in stages tied to progress, bank financing through our partners, and the national grant schemes where you qualify. We tell you which applies before you sign anything.

Will solar panels work during cloudy days?
10:42
Yes — panels still generate on cloudy days, just less than in full sun. Modern cells work on diffused light too, and Cyprus has few genuinely overcast days.

How long does installation usually take?
10:43
Most residential installations are done in one to three days, depending on system size and roof access. You get a precise date range with the quote.

During installation

What happens during the installation?

How long does installation take?
Most residential systems take one to three days on site. Larger commercial roofs take up to a week. You get a firm date range with the quote, not a vague promise.
What does the installation process look like?
Safety and scaffolding first, then mounting rails, panels, inverters, DC and AC wiring, and finally the meter cabinet. Every step is on a checklist your installer works through.
Will I need to be home during installation?
Only for access on the first morning and for the hand-over at the end. In between you can go about your day — the crew works on the roof, not in your living room.
How do you ensure safety?
Certified engineers, edge protection on every roof, tested tools and a documented checklist that is signed off before we leave. Nothing is improvised.
What happens if there's a problem?
Work stops, the installer calls the supervisor, and you get it in writing the same day. Surprises cost everyone money — we would rather tell you early.
How is everything tested?
String insulation, polarity, earthing and inverter commissioning are measured and logged. You receive the readings together with the hand-over record.
After installation

What happens after installation?

How do I monitor my system?
Through the sunny.cy app and the inverter display: live production, consumption and battery level, plus a monthly summary. No extra subscription.
Are there warranties?
25 years on panel performance, 10 to 12 years on inverters, 10 years on the battery and 2 years on our workmanship. All of it in writing with the hand-over.
What kind of maintenance is needed?
Very little. A visual check and a panel clean once a year is usually enough. On Cyprus dust matters more than dirt — after a spell of Saharan dust a rinse pays for itself.
Can I add a battery later?
Yes. We size the inverter so a battery can be added without replacing it — as long as you tell us at planning time, which costs nothing and keeps the door open.
What if I need support?
Call, write, or open a ticket from your customer panel. We answer within one working day, and the team that installed your system is the team that picks up.
What happens if I move house?
The system stays with the building and raises its value. We transfer the monitoring account and the remaining warranty to the new owner free of charge.
